Early this year, it was announced that Bob Weir, a founding member and guitarist for the Grateful Dead, had passed—sending waves of grief through the Grateful Dead community.
It’s no surprise that the Internet Archive intersects with that community, with over 18,000 digital live concert recordings since 1965 preserved on archive.org. In tribute to Bob Weir’s lasting influence on rhythm guitar work, songwriting, and more, we are proud to feature the Bob Weir Collection.
This collection holds a little over 500 audience-made Bob Weir concert recordings from various projects (Grateful Dead, RatDog, The Other Ones, The Dead, and Furthur) publicly available for download and enjoyment.
The statement on Weir’s official website reads, “There is no final curtain here, not really. Only the sense of someone setting off again. He often spoke of a three-hundred-year legacy, determined to ensure the songbook would endure long after him. May that dream live on through future generations of Dead Heads.”
We invite you to explore this collection and continue to keep Bob’s enduring legacy going for generations to come.
