Leonard Crow Dog (1942–2021) was a pivotal figure in the American Indian Movement (AIM) and served as the spiritual leader during the 1973 occupation of Wounded Knee. Born on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, he dedicated his life to revitalizing traditional rituals like the Sun Dance and the Ghost Dance, which had been suppressed for decades. He is remembered as a "Chief of Chiefs" who sought to unify Native people across all nations.
