Madeleine Peyroux......Let's Walk

Madeleine Peyroux (then)

Several years ago, Madeleine Peyroux's debut album, "Dreamland," was showered with praise.Critics swooned over her Billie Holiday-like voice, her choice of material (though pigeonholed as a jazz vocalist, her songs included Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" and a pair of blues numbers) and her interpretive abilities. The album, despite no hits and little airplay, sold 200,000 copies, an amazing number for an unknown singer.

And then she disappeared.

"I didn't have much choice," she says in a recent phone interview from her home in Brooklyn, New York. "A lot of things happened.""CNN"

Madeleine Peyroux, from Athens, Georgia, began her artistic life as a girl singing in the streets of the Latin Quarter in Paris. Her second album Careless Love, produced by Larry Klein, was a gold album selling half a million copies.

Now, six years after her previous work, she has released Let’s Walk, in which she wrote all the songs with guitarist and session man Jon Herington. Stylistically the new album of the singer-songwriter brings together elements of americana, jazz, blues and elegant pop.
