Threshold
“Threshold” reflects on the pull between belonging and becoming, on the comfort of sameness and the quiet danger of losing oneself within it.
It acknowledges that there is nothing wrong in sharing a path or kindred thought, yet asks what happens when the familiar becomes too still.
In that moment, the poem leans toward movement, a step beyond the known, guided less by rebellion than by an inner need to see what lies past the gate.
I stand with the minions at my side They are more than I can count and they seem content Not excited, only calm and still A door opens and my leaving feels near I resist, though my strength is thin The bright wind, filled with the sun’s warmth, moves me forward I reach out, I sigh, my eyes fill with tears I fall and my heart aches deep inside Panic rises and takes hold of my thoughts Must it be? Fate can be ignored, but at what cost My hope folds in on itself Trust dissolves, buried in confusion Can this be the end? Or...
